Research interests
- Offshore wind energy: Offshore wind energy is expected to provide a sustainable solution as it is able to deploy with high installed capacity thanks to large area, high and stable wind speeds. However, the energy cost is still high, modern technologies should be applied to make the energy cost compatible to traditional electricity generation technologies (light-weight blade and wind generators, for example). In addition, windfarm layout optimization is of importance to minimize the wake-effect and inter-array cable cost and its transmission loss.
- Electrical machine modeling: Electrical machines are considered heart of any electric system including power grid or electric vehicles. Accurate design is importantly required for any product before the manufacturing process to minimize the risk of money wasted and failures in operations. In this direction, topologies with different design approaches either Finite Element Method, which is highly accurate, or alternatives to reduce simulation time could be used.
