Call for proposals: INNO-INSPIRATION USTH 2023 Contest

The contest is organized to support innovative and creative S&T ideas of USTH students. The registration is from September 1^st to October 1^st2023.

OBJECTIVES

University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) was established with the aim to provide high quality human resources in Science and Technology serving the socio–economic development of Vietnam and making all efforts to become an leading research-oriented University in Vietnam, with regional and international collaborations. Therefore, capacity-building on S&T research and innovation for lecturers and students is among the top priorities of USTH.

The USTH-20 Program, initiated in 2018, aimed to support and encourage students to fully participate in the S&T creative activities. In order to further promote students’ applied research activities, innovative ideas and start-up activities, this year USTH launches the program with the Call for application for INNO-INSPIRATION USTH 2023 Contest with contents as follows:

S&T SCOPE

Biotechnology;
Food Technology;
Information technology, A.I; Data Science ;
Environmental Technology;
Physical engineering – Electricity – Electronics;

New material technology;
Space Science and Technology;
Aeronautics;
Chemical Technology;
Renewable Energy;

Transdisciplinary proposals (connecting subjects above) shall be perceived positively.

GRANTED AMOUNT

There will be 2 steps of selection with staged grants, as follows:

Selection step #1 (Initiative Awards) : out of all proposals (submitted by 1^st October 2023), 10 proposals will be selected (by 15 October 2023) and each will be awarded 10,000,000 VND.

Projects shall then be developed with help of Mentors and shall be submitted by 15 January 2024.

Selection step #2 (Final round Awards):

*First prize (01 laureate): 10,000,000 VND

*Second prize (01 laureate): 7,000,000 VND

*Third prizes (02 laureates): 5,000,000 VND

*Consolation prizes (02 laureates): 3,000,000 VND

APPLICANTS

Any Bachelor or Master student registered at USTH at the time of registration can lead a group to apply for the Contest.

Groups should be of at least 3 and at most 5 members ( at least 60% should study at USTH ).

IMPLEMENTATION TIME

Round 1: registration, from September 1^st to October 1^st

Candidates shall register before 5pm Sunday, October 1^th 2023 by submitting their:

Video presentation (90-180 seconds)

Round 2: Initiative selection, from October 2^nd to October 15^th

Maximum 10 excellent, feasible, potential ideas will be selected and funded with:

10 million VND/group
support from a Mentor (a lecturer or researcher)

Round 3: Implementation round, from October 16^th 2023 to January 15^th 2024

Project teams commit to implement the project to finalize ideas, products and to submit a report of solution/ prototype/product/poster (A3/A4 size) in the form of explanations and 01 video (maximum 5 minutes) by 17:00 on January 15^th, 2024.

Final round and award ceremony: end of January 2024

The Board selects up to 6 best projects to award in the Final round.

* All participating members will receive Certificates.

* The 4 best will have the opportunity to receive additional Mentoring from USTH so as to participate in other competitions.

GENERAL REGULATIONS

Each project will be led by 01 USTH student who is the main responsible person (also called project leader).
Each project will be implemented by at least 03 students and at most 05 students (including at least 60% USTH students including project leader).
The project must present some novelty, hence the research idea should not be identical with another idea already implemented or published, nor should it have been already submitted to any international or national awards at the time of proposal submission.
Through the selection process, priority will be given to innovative ideas that represent a breakthrough, practical, in the form of a product or a process useful to life. Intended usefulness and/or benefits to society should be highlighted in the proposal.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION:

Please submit registration form, full proposal, video (Shared folders with Google Drive link), and commitment form (via email: dritt@usth.edu.vn) before 5pm Sunday, October 1^st 2023.

Notes:

The full-proposals must be written in English, A4 paper format with Time news Roman font size 12, and should not exceed fifteen (15) pages.
Late submission (after the deadline mentioned above) will not be accepted
